As part of our educational initiative, the Business Law Network offers a series of speakers, called “Flash Classes.”  Speakers are invited to campus and students gather to hear on a wide range of topics.  The Network has invited individuals who serve in government, contract attorneys, bankruptcy attorneys, negotiation experts, entrepreneurs, as well as in-house general counsel for large corporations.

Thursday, November 6th, 2014: 

Allyson Vaughn, University of Mississippi Law Alum and Vice President of the Securities Division Compliance at Goldman Sachs, shared descriptions of her work in compliance and finance, how her legal background enhances her role, and gave an overview of the ever changing regulatory environment.

February 19th, 2015: Attorney Ben Griffith presents

“Taking Local Government to the International Level”

 Mr. Griffith’s civil litigation practice now extends to representing state agencies, counties, cities, elected officials, nongovernmental entities  and other private sector insured and their insurers in federal and state civil litigation throughout Mississippi, as well as in other  jurisdictions. Ben’s work focuses on defense of state and local governments in civil rights, voting rights, election law and reapportionment  litigation, representation of commercial entities and other private sector insureds in premises security and construction defect litigation,      public entity insurance coverage disputes, and environmental law. He has been elected by his peers to be included in the 2007 through 2014 editions of The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Municipal Law, and named Lawyer of the Year – 2014 for the Jackson metro area. He has also been included in the 2006 through 2014  editions of Mid-South Super Lawyers in Government/Municipalities. Ben Griffith was born in Cleveland, Mississippi. He earned a B.A. in English and German from Ole Miss in May 1973, and entered the University of Mississippi School of Law that same year where served on the Editorial Board of the Mississippi Law Journal, and was manager of the Briefing Service.
